Joy and Strength

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.

"When we are centered in joy, we attain our wisdom."
Marianne Williamson
Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing. Use the pain as fuel, as a reminder of your strength.
-- August Wilson

"Remember to light the candle of joy daily and all the gloom will disappear from your life."
Djwhal Khul
Go within every day and find the inner strength so that the world will not blow your candle out.

If your heart acquires strength, you will be able to remove blemishes from others without thinking evil of them.

Today I need all the joy and strength afforded me.  There's a curious side-effect to radiation: coldness to the system.....let me make that a bit more clear: when the temp out here dropped from 86 to 38 early yesterday evening I immediately felt as if I'd been tossed into a vat of ice.  Now with most coldness after a bit the body tends to go numb, apparently when radiation is in the body the reaction is that feeling of being tossed into the vat of ice......over and over and over and over and over.....you get the idea.   Yeowzerzzzzzzzzzz!  It's gonna be cold here for at least the next few days; meanwhile I will be dressing like an eskimo and ingesting lots of hot beverages.

We will be having an MRI tomorrow (I say we because you are on this journey, too) but the results won't be known until Wednesday.  The purpose is two fold: to see just how much my monster has died and just where to place those internal radiation tubes when the time comes.  We're coming down the home stretch ladies and gents!

At this point in treatment I'm to expect more physical distress which is just weird but then cancer is about as abnormal as it gets!  But hey it's ok; after last Friday's pharmacy mess I was able to fill my prescriptions this afternoon ( the 2nd trip went only slightly better, sigh).  I cannot thank God enough for His unfailing love and unswerving comfort through all of this.

When late morning rolls around and you're feeling a bit out of sorts, don't worry; you're probably just a little eleven o'clockish.

  1. Hello, My Sister. You were on my mind so much tonight, and then I heard this beautiful song by Laura Story. Listening to the words, I knew that I was to share them with you, so here they are:

    Laura Story \ Perfect Peace

    stay close by my side
    keep your eyes on me
    though this life is hard
i will give you perfect peace

    in this time of trial
    pain that no one sees
    trust me when i say
i will give you perfect peace

    and you'll never walk alone
and you'll never be in need
though i may not calm the storms around you
    you can hide in me

    burdens that you bear
    offer no relief
    let me bear your load
cause i will give you perfect peace

    stay close by my side
    and you'll never walk alone
    keep your eyes on me
and you will never be in need

    though this life is hard
know that i will always give you perfect peace
i will give you perfect peace

    Love you! Jody
