B Positive
Oooh, I'm already feeling much better now that I got 2 pints of B+ today! Amazing what fresh blood will do for a body. I'm sooooooo looking forward to the days when I won't need these transfusions anymore but I'm extremely appreciative to the 7 people who donated their blood so I can not only live but become healthy again.
From 1987 through 2006 I regularly went to .Belle Bonfils Blood Center I began donating whole blood then switched to donating platelets in 1989 (apheresis). B+ blood is not that common and I learned that platelet donations can be done every other week, as opposed to whole blood donations every 56 days; so platelets are very important to those needing them and not as many people are willing to donate them because the process takes around 2 hours each time. In 1990 I also became a registered bone marrow donor. In 1993 I was asked to donate marrow but in the end I wasn't an exact match so it didn't happen. Being a donor was always an important part of my life, an easy but meaningful way to help others in need. In early 2007 I went back to occasionally donating whole blood only, I was no longer able to donate platelets as my white blood counts were way too low....hmmm, maybe this monster inside of me was already brewing back then? In any case now it's me whose body desperately needed a blood boost!
The reason I keep needing transfusions is cuz this monster isn't giving up without a fight of its' own, it's feeding off my blood supply but very soon the chemo/radiation combo will prevent that from happening anymore. My monster is already starting to wilt! One day very soon my body, my blood will be my own again; but even after that I'll do my best to be positive. ~May your dreams tonight bring you joy in the morning~
