Mmmmmmm, Yummy !

Nothing like a tall, cool nectarine smoothie after a long day on the medical battlefield; yummy!  Yeppers, just sipping away on one of those right now as I bring today's entry.
Got started with chemotherapy today; calming from the start in a very large and airy room with plenty of windows, dreamy colored decor and an entire crew of compassionate cancer-care professionals.  The process went without a hitch and my 2.5 hrs went by quickly.  Blood tests are taken 1st and my results are still very bad; my platelet and iron counts are clearly well below even the low end of the scale.  We'll wait until Thursday to see if more transfusions are needed, if so they will be done in the chemo (infusion) clinic so I won't need to be hospitalized.
Next up was my 4th radiation treatment; the machine broke while my treatment was being administered, so I had to be taken out for the repairs to be done then brought back a bit later to get the job done.  The broken machine gave me the time to quickly see my radiation doc to see about the PET Scan results.  On Wednesday I'll get to see them for myself but he was grinning from ear to ear as he told me I have NO cancer anywhere else in my body and that while I have a "monster tumor" (his term) that it has not invaded anything else....Thank You God!!!
I still have a ton a government paperwork to get through before medical/disability benefits become available to me but the most important is being treated to kill this thing in its' tracks and they won't stop treating me just cuz the paperwork isn't all neatened up.  I just won't be able to access other helpful benefits such as no cost prescriptions or, (the most challenging) free medical transportation to my treatments/back home. (I'm not allowed to drive right now as I'm taking narcotic meds)  But hey, really it's all working out and I know God won't leave me hanging.
Now about that smoothie: I simply quartered 2 nectarines, added 2 cups Dannon Vanilla yogurt, 1 cup ice cubes and blended then poured over more ice....mmmm, yummy! (I kinda like it a bit on the tart side but if you like it sweeter add some honey or sugar)  Enjoy!
